Lee Cleighborn “Clay” Brown, 90, passed away on August 20, 2025, at Toledo Hospital.
Born in Marianna, Arkansas, he later moved to Toledo, Ohio. He retired from the General Motors Hydromatic Toledo Plant after more than 30 years of service.
Clay maintained a lifelong relationship with God and was a member of several churches, most recently Glass City Church of Christ and New Covenant Baptist Church .
He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and was an avid pool player with the Inter-City Pool League. He was also a member of the Arkansas Heritage Club, Toledo Chapter.
He was a devoted husband to his wife, Lula, and a father to their two children. Clay was preceded in death by his parents, Wilson and Ella Thomas Brown; four brothers, Spencer, McKinley, James, and Lavernard Brown; and four sisters, Wilhelmina Butler, Carrie Board, Olivia James, and Elizabeth Griffin. He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife of fifty-three years, Lula Brown; his son, Cleigh Delano (Tamica) Brown of Columbus, OH; his daughter, Machelle Evette Boyd of Toledo, OH; eight grandchildren, Branden Brown, Cleigh Delano Brown, Jr., Clatina Brown, Delano Cleigh Brown, Dalana Brown, Nadia Brown, Ronnie Robinson, Jr., and Lamar Robinson; two sisters-in-law, Doris (Rodney) Brown of Toledo, OH and Margaret Brown of Columbus, OH; special friends, Jerry Taylor and Rudy Ivey of Toledo, OH; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends.
The family will receive guests Friday, August 29, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at Glass City Church of Christ, 901 Hoag Street, Toledo, OH 43607. Funeral Services will begin Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Glass City Church of Christ with Dr. Robert G. Birt officiating. Burial will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park Cemetery.
