Leda D. Tassell, went to be with Jesus on August 24, 2025, at the age of 89 in Point Place, Ohio. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished community member. Born on April 23, 1936, in Colcord, Oklahoma, Leda lived a life marked by hard work, deep faith, and an unwavering love toward her family.
Known for her independence and strong faith in God, Leda was a woman of many dimensions. She had a free spirit and was often described as stubborn, a testament to her unwavering resolve in life’s challenges. Leda's passions included gardening and baking, pursuits that showcased her creativity and love for nurturing both plants and her family through delicious meals.
Over the years, Leda touched many lives through her roles as a Sunday School teacher, AWANA Leader, and an interpreter for the deaf at Faith Bible Baptist Church, where she was a faithful member. Leda dedicated an impressive 62 years of her life to her career, holding various positions at K-Mart, Toledo Hospital, Anderson's, and Blake Medical Hospital in Florida. Her work ethic was unparalleled, and her dedication earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues and community members alike.
Leda loved her family dearly, which included her sons Steven Tassell and his wife Diana, Robert Tassell and his wife Barb, and William Tassell and his wife Anna, along with her daughter Linda Seager and her husband Kevin. Leda was a proud grandmother of ten, great-grandmother (Bonka) of fifteen, and great-great-grandmother of one, creating a legacy of love that will endure through generations. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
Leda was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Joseph Tassell, who passed away in 1992 after 38 years of marriage, and her brother Doyle Salkil.
Visitation will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home in Northwest Toledo on September 2, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and again on September 3, 2025, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. Burial will take place at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park at 12:30 PM.
Leda D. Tassell will be remembered not only for her contributions to her community and her family but also for the indelible mark she left on the hearts of all who knew her. Her strength, faith, and love will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
The family would like to send a special thank you to Hospice of NW Ohio and their special nurse Crissy. In lieu of flowers, donation on behalf of Mrs. Tassell can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
