Lawrence “Larry” Martin, Jr., passed away peacefully in his home in Sylvania, Ohio, on June 30, 2026, surrounded by family. Born on May 22, 1943, in Toledo, Ohio, Larry lived a life rich in dedication, service, and love.
Larry was the beloved husband of Dian (Alpaugh) Martin for 46 years. Together, they built a life rooted in partnership, mutual respect, and the joy of raising a devoted family. He is survived by his loving children: Sara (Brian) Ramsey, Patty (Tim) Haise, Tim Martin, and Lawrence Martin III. The family that Larry and Dian nurtured over the years grew to include grandchildren Derek Fowler, Heather (Ken) Kohn, Brittany (Chris) Jay, Erik Ramsey, Kavin (Gracie) Martin, Shealyn (James) Camper, Marley Martin, William Brown, and Dominik Brown, as well as great-grandchildren Hayden Kohn, Aubrey Kohn, Chesney Jay, Adelyn Kohn, Finn Martin, and Isla Jay. Larry’s sister, Beth (Duane) Perry, and his brother-in-law, Dale Emerick, also survives him.
Larry’s commitment to his country and community was evident in his service as a United States Navy veteran. He proudly served his nation during the Vietnam War from 1963 to 1966, embodying the values of honor and duty.
After his military service, Larry embarked on a remarkable career as a truck driver, dedicating 55 years to the profession before retiring in 2023. His unfaltering work ethic and perseverance earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues and friends across decades and countless miles traveled.
Outside of his professional life, Larry found joy in simple pleasures—he loved golf, indulged in shopping and vacations, and treasured moments spent with his family. His warmth and humor enriched family gatherings, and his presence was always a source of comfort and stability.
Larry’s legacy extends beyond the accomplishments of his lifetime; it is reflected in the character of those who knew and loved him. Though he now rests in peace, his spirit will remain a guiding light to his family and all who were fortunate to share in his journey.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence Martin, Sr. and Dorothy Martin; his sister, Barbara Emerick; and his brother, Dale Martin. Larry’s memory will endure in the hearts of those he left behind.
The family extends gratitude for the time, love, and support shared with Larry throughout his life. His devotion, kindness, and laughter will be dearly missed but never forgotten.

Larry's family will welcome guests on Sunday, July 5, 2026 from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home - West Sylvania Chapel, 3655 King Road, Toledo. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, July 6, 2026 at 11:00 am. Burial will be private at a later date at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
