It is with much sorrow but with profound hope, that we announce that Lawrence (Larry) Thaddeus Szymanski, age 90, of Toledo, Ohio, passed peacefully to his eternal reward on February 25, 2026, after a brief hospitalization.
He was born on February 12, 1936, to Thaddeus and Alice Szymanski in Toledo, Ohio.
Larry attended Macomber High School and then the University of Toledo where he earned a degree in Electrical Engineering.
He married Carol Ann Plenzler on January 31, 1959, and they had eight children - Cindy, Debbie, Linda, Peter, Laurie, Paul, Patrick, and Steve.
He worked as a teacher at his alma mater, Macomber High School, where he taught Radio and TV Repair to numerous students over 30 years. He retired from teaching in 1993.
Larry was a faith-filled Catholic all of his life. He loved to play basketball and volleyball in the backyard with his kids. Larry also enjoyed playing tennis with friends, bowling, and playing golf. Fishing on Lake Erie in the summers with his wife, Carol, or his father, or his kids, or friends was a love of Larry’s. Yearly summer trips to Cedar Point with his family and regular trips to Oak Openings Metropark with his kids were things he loved to do. He was active in his faith, leading Bible studies at the Church of the Most Blessed Sacrament and participating in the Catholic Charismatic Renewal with Carol. He always loved a good talk about Cedar Point, Disney, Computers, and the Faith.
Larry is survived by his wife, Carol, his children Cindy (Jamey), Debbie (Paul), Linda (Dave), Peter, Laurie (Tom), Steve (Marnie); and daughter-in-law, Diana. He has fourteen grandchildren: Kristin, Sarah, and Daniel (Stephanie); Stephanie and Jenette; Matt (Sarah) and Maggie; Nick; Joshua (Grace), Jacob, Jeremy, and Janelle; and Kaylie ( Alex) and Maxwell. Larry has five great-grandchildren: Sabrina; Trinity, Nathaniel, and Aaron; and Dean.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alice and Thaddeus, and by his sons, Paul and Patrick.
