In Loving Memory of LaWanda Lynn Thornton On July 15, 2026, LaWanda Lynn Thornton peacefully departed this earthly life and transitioned to her heavenly home at the age of 41.
LaWanda was born on November 25, 1984, in Toledo, Ohio, to Debra Thornton and Kenneth Williams. She attended Toledo Public Schools, where she developed the caring and vibrant spirit that would touch the lives of so many.
Throughout her life, LaWanda worked various jobs, but cooking was her true passion. She found great joy in preparing meals for family and friends, sharing her love through every dish she created. More than anything, LaWanda adored her beloved son, Jerry Thornton, who was the light of her life and her greatest blessing. She treasured every moment spent with him.
LaWanda also loved being surrounded by her family and friends. Her warm heart, infectious smile, and loving personality made everyone feel welcomed and appreciated. She cherished every gathering and created lasting memories with those she loved.
LaWanda was preceded in death by her parents, Debra Thornton and Kenneth Williams; grandparents, Bonnie Lou Dennis Wayne Frederick Thornton; her sister, Kenya Williams; her Godmother, Rita Jane; honorary father, Lester Williams and significant other, Michael Hampton.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories her beloved son, Jerry Thornton; her sisters, DaNeil Thornton, LaToya Harris, Tiwana Williams, and Karen Williams; her brothers, Keith Williams, Eric (Bonita) Williams, Everett (Nicole) Williams, Tyrone Harris, and Terry Harris; uncle, James (Adele) Thornton along with a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family members, and dear friends, all of whom she loved and adored.
Though LaWanda’s physical presence will be deeply missed, her love, laughter, and beautiful spirit will forever remain in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
A Service celebrating LaWanda’s life will be held on will be held Friday, July 31, 2026 at 11:00 AM at United Vision Baptist Church, 821 E. Manhattan Blvd. with Pastor Perry Harris III officiating.
