La'Niyah Janiece Lane, a radiant young spirit, passed away on February 9, 2026, at the tender age of sixteen. Born on January 13, 2010, in Toledo, Ohio, La'Niyah was a cherished daughter, sister, granddaughter, and friend who brought joy and laughter to those around her She was a student at Bowsher High School, where her vibrant personality and love for life left a lasting impression on both her peers and educators.
La'Niyah’s personality was nothing short of amazing; she was known for her infectious high spirits and a smile that could light up any room. A lover of humor, she delighted in joking with friends and family, often bringing people together with her playful nature. La’Niyah loved babies, and was an amazing cousin. Among her many interests, La'Niyah had a particular passion for art and a deep appreciation for Korean culture, which included a love for K-pop, K-dramas, candy, anime and gaming.
Her family will forever hold her dear in their hearts, including her mother, April Brown; bonus dads, Keyvon Brown and Javon Stanford; and siblings, Ladon Stanford and Connor Avery. La'Niyah was blessed to have the loving support of her grandparents, Lillian Powell, Charles Powell Sr., and Alisa Brown, as well as her great-grandma, Margerett Dean. She is survived by numerous aunts and uncles, including Tamika Woodard, Charles Powell, Deveon Powell, Brandy Powell, Robert, Makinzie Gozmen, Alexis, and Nannie Dean. Her cousins—Taylor Crump, Jonovan Crump, Charles Powell Jr., Cameron Powell, Deveon Powell Jr., Amiyah Powell, Emmitt Powell, Isaiah Colbert, Rakiah Dean, Journey Butts, Kailani Ham, Kaliyah Powell, Da'quasia Dean, and Sa'Quoya Dean—will also remember her fondly.
She was also blessed with a close-knit group of friends, including Ared Juarez Perez, Anari Nycole Jackson, Lina Gratereaux, Israel Graves, and Natalie Monroe, who shared countless memories with her, celebrating life and the bonds of friendship. La'Niyah has many more extended family and friends too many to name them all but they all were loved by La'Niyah and very dear to her.
La'Niyah joins her loved ones who have preceded her, including Erica Elmore, Laneva Williams, Aidynn Powell, Beatrice Lucas, and Tommy Dean, in eternal peace.
A visitation in memory of La'Niyah will take place at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Toledo, located at 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd, Toledo, OH 43614, on February 20, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. This will be followed by her funeral service at the same location at 11:00 AM.
La'Niyah Janice Lane will be remembered not only for her kindness and spark but for the love she spread throughout her short yet impactful life. Her legacy of joy and cherished memories will continue to resonate with all who had the privilege of knowing her.
