Kim Marie Acker, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on June 8, 2025, in Sylvania, Ohio. Born on September 27, 1957, in Buffalo, New York, Kim lived a life filled with love, dedication, and joy, leaving an indelible mark on everyone who was fortunate enough to know her.
Throughout her years, Kim wore many hats, most notably as a nurturing nanny who dedicated herself to caring for children and lending support to people in her life. Kim's career also included significant time spent at Johnson Controls in Northwood and Sautter's Food Center in Sylvania, where she worked in the Deli, embodying her loving nature through her service to others.
Those who had the privilege to witness Kim’s life will remember her fondly for her sweet melodies, always humming a lovely tune to herself. Her evenings were often spent on the back deck, sharing precious moments with her beloved husband, Russ Acker, where their bond and love grew even deeper over nearly five decades. Kim referred to her grandchildren as her "angels," cherishing every thoughtful and heartwarming interaction with them.
Renowned for her potato salad—deemed the best by her family—Kim’s home was always filled with warmth, laughter, and the delicious aromas of her husband's cooking. With her caring spirit, she was a mother who spoiled her children, Lisa and Kelly, with love that knew no bounds—from adventurous shopping trips to spirited moments of driving practice in parking lots before they got their temps.
Nana Kim possessed a personality that radiated kindness. She was a caring person who effortlessly became a second mom to many in her community, welcoming new friendships and always singing, creating an atmosphere of love wherever she went. Her love for all kinds of music, particularly Motown and soul, enriched her family’s gatherings, while her passion for sharing favorite movies, especially those that sent a shiver down the spine, brought them closer together.
Kim's pride extended beyond her immediate family; her accomplishments were exemplified in her strong commitment to family life. She held dear the memories of meeting her amazing husband, Russ, at the tender age of 13 and embarking on a lifelong journey of love together, marrying in their youth to always be by his side forever. Their union resulted in a wonderful family and the blessing of beautiful grandchildren.
Kim is survived by her beloved husband of 49 years, Russ Acker; daughters, Lisa Acker and Kelly (Matthew Arehart) Acker; sister, Sherry LeRoy; brothers-in-law, Gary (Diane) Acker, Raymond (Lori) Acker, and Dennis Nikel; sister-in-law, Gabriella Acker; grandchildren, Maddox Arehart and Cade "CJ" Arehart; special friends, Kathy and Jeff Pinkert and family; beloved "grand-dog," Oscar; and many additional loving nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.
She now joins her predeceased family, which includes her father, Richard LeRoy; mother, Erma M. LeRoy (nee Rummell); mother-in-law, Delsie Acker; father-in-law, Raymond Acker; brother-in-law, Robert Acker; son, Michael Acker; sister, Linda Sumera; sister, Tracey Nikel; and nephew, Robert Sumera.
Kim Marie Acker's life serves as a testament to love, dedication, and the profound impact one person can have on the lives of countless others. She will forever be missed but warmly remembered, her legacy carried on through the lives of those she touched.
