Kenneth Lee Sobiniak I, affectionately known as Kenny, graced this world with his presence from January 11, 1947, until he peacefully departed on December 25, 2025, in his hometown of Toledo, Ohio. A loving husband, devoted father, and doting grandfather, Kenny made an enduring impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Kenny's career as a truck driver with JTI spanned an admirable 33 years, during which he traversed over 3 million miles. His adventures on the road provided him with a myriad of unforgettable stories and memories, from sunny days spent cutting grass to cherished family trips to Pensacola Beach, Florida, and visits to family in Texas and Oklahoma. Above all, Kenny was a true family man whose heart swelled with love for his beloved wife of 54 years, Ruth Sobiniak.
Known for his quick wit, humor, and jovial spirit, Kenny was renowned for making others smile. His laughter was a melody that would bring joy even on the hottest, sunniest days, as he knelt down to care for his brother and mother when they were in need. Kenny's approach to life was simple yet profound; he believed in the power of kindness and loved to sprinkle his days with jokes and silliness.
Kenny was not only a dedicated husband and father, but also a proud grandfather. He took immense joy in his family, being particularly fond of spending time with his grandson, Kenny (Lindsey) Sobiniak III, who undoubtedly carries forth the legacy of laughter and love that defined his grandfather.
He attended Scott High School, where he carried the same attributes he embodied throughout his life: intelligence, charm, and a penchant for connecting with others. In his spare time, Kenny indulged in video games, particularly enjoying Call of Duty, and found solace in working out in the yard, helping neighbors maintain their lawns, a testament to his generous spirit.
Kenny’s legacy will continue to echo through the hearts of his living family members: his devoted wife, Ruth, children, Kenny (Leota) Sobiniak II and Robert Sobiniak, brother Richard Carrothers Jr., and his special four-legged friend, Charlie. They will forever cherish the memories and the space he filled in their lives.
He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Marjorie Carrothers; step-father, Richard Carrothers Sr.; father, Arthur Sobiniak; and brother Daniel Sobiniak; as well as his sister, Tami Benatheiga and sister, Diane Carrothers.
Kenny Lee Sobiniak I will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, laughter, and familial devotion will continue to shine brightly in the lives of those fortunate enough to have known him. As we mourn his passing, we celebrate a life beautifully led—with joy as his guide and family forever close to his heart.
