Kathy A. Taylor, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on March 3, 2026, in Toledo, Ohio, at the age of 71. Born on July 25, 1954, in Toledo, Kathy led a life marked by her unwavering commitment to family and community.
Kathy dedicating many years of her life working for LaSalle Cleaners, while also devoting herself to caring for her husband, Ed, and their children. She and Ed were married for 53 wonderful years, building a life together filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories.
Her deep involvement with the Boy Scouts of America spanned over 40 years, where she demonstrated her passion for service and community. This dedication was recognized with the prestigious Silver Beaver Award, honoring her exceptional volunteer service. Kathy was also a proud member of the Eastern Stars and actively participated in the Jerry Lewis Telethon and the Susan G. Komen Foundation in Toledo, further highlighting her commitment to making a difference in the lives of others.
Kathy graduated from Roy C. Start High School in 1973. Her personality shone brightly as she was known for her willingness to help others, with "no" never in her vocabulary. In addition to her volunteer efforts, Kathy took great pride in her hobbies. She enjoyed reading, participated in a bowling league through the Collingwood United Methodist Church, and harbored a lifelong curiosity about Amish life. An amazing baker, she brought joy to those around her with her culinary creations, on top of her love for spending time at the family cottage on Lime Lake.
Kathy faced her own health challenges with resilience, being a proud breast cancer survivor twice. She was equally proud of her son, Joshua, who serves our country in the U.S. Army, exemplifying her family's commitment to service.
Kathy leaves behind her beloved husband, Ed Taylor; her daughter Heather Barreira and her husband Jorge; her son Joshua Taylor and his wife Ginni; and her daughter Angela Collins and her husband Jamie. She treasured her grandchildren—Joshua Taylor Jr., Kira Taylor, Emmalynn Taylor, Mollymae Taylor, Asher Taylor, Declan Taylor, David Johnson, Dylan Collins, and Victoria Collins, as well as her great-grandchildren, Analiegha Johnson and Apollo Johnson. Kathy is also survived by her sister Patricia Ceglio and her husband Chuck, and her brother Bill Senecal and a host of other nieces and nephews that were so dear to her.
She was preceded in death by her grandson, Gary Diebert Jr., and her sister-in-law, Becky Senecal.
Visitation will be held on March 12, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Northwest Toledo, located at 4150 W Laskey Rd, Toledo, OH 43623.
Kathy A. Taylor will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate to know her, and her legacy of love and service will continue to inspire those whose lives she touched.
