Kathleen M. McNamara

Kathleen M. McNamara (“Kay”), 70, of Holland, Ohio, beloved mother, sister, and friend, passed away Saturday, November 23, 2024. Kay was born on May 17, 1954, and was the daughter of John and Margaret Joan (Glass) McNamara, who both are deceased. She was a long-time companion of Henry Szczur who preceded her in death in 2020. Kay was a 1972 graduate of Notre Dame Academy and served in the US Coast Guard for a few years after high school before being honorably discharged. Kay enjoyed reading (especially the bible), playing cards and board games, doing crafts, walking, traveling, and spending time with her four children, nine siblings and many friends. Kay had a generous heart, never met a stranger and was always willing to help others in need. 

Kay is survived by her four loving children, Jody Eredics, Tim Eredics, Eddie McNamara and Dutch (Karah Kohlman) McNamara; nine siblings, Maureen “Mo” Gary, Mike (Kathy) McNamara, Coleen (Mark Hensien) McNamara, Nora (Rich) Dregne, John McNamara, Tim McNamara, Patrick (Patti) McNamara, Denny (Heather Szynaka) McNamara, and Peggy (Lance Motil) McNamara; and sixteen nieces and nephews. 

Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 pm, Sunday, December 15, 2024, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd, Toledo, Ohio, 43614. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, December 16, 2024 at 10:00 am at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church located at 5856 Heatherdowns Blvd, Toledo, OH 43614. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joan of Arc Food Pantry or St. Jude Children’s Hospital. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at UTMC who cared for Kay prior to her passing.
