Karen Olson Hasenfratz, age 80, of Toledo, Ohio passed away peacefully on Friday February 2, 2024, at the University of Toledo Medical Center.
Karen was a 1961 graduate of Libbey High School and a 1965 graduate of Bowling Green State University, where she formed life-long friendships as a member of Alpha Xi Delta sorority. Karen taught mathematics and computer science at Rogers High School. Additionally, she provided mathematics tutoring at the Holy Spirit Seminary. As a long-time member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Toledo, her hard-boiled eggs became a weekly staple at events feeding the homeless and struggling in downtown Toledo.
Music held a special place in Karen's heart; she used her skills with the violin to perform in various musical groups and across several local senior centers. For several years, Karen was a member of the Toledo Choral Society. She sang in both the choir at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Toledo, Ohio and at All Saints Catholic Church in Clearwater, Florida, where she and her husband would spend their winters. Karen served as a docent at the Toledo Museum of Art, focusing on the positive feeling and the fun art brought to life, even sharing a good laugh with museum attendees.
Above all, Karen was someone who appreciated bringing joy into the lives of her family and friends.
Karen was born December 22, 1943, in Toledo, Ohio, the daughter of A. Wallace Olson and Dorothy Bernice (Benson) Olson. She married Donald G.
