Toledo

June Tanner, a cherished matriarch of her family, passed away peacefully in Toledo, Ohio, on April 26, 2025, at the age of 80. Born on June 30, 1944, in Toledo, she was known for her feisty spirit and unwavering determination, traits that defined her throughout her life.

June's educational journey began at DeVilbiss High School, where she graduated in the class of 1962. Following her schooling, she immersed herself in various roles that exemplified her loving nature and dedication to supporting others. June worked diligently as a cashier at Stanley's Meat Market for seven years, and she dedicated time to caring for children through her in-home daycare. Her employment also included a stint at Toys R Us, further showcasing her nurturing character and commitment to the community.

Deeply connected with those around her, June was more than just a homebody; she had a remarkable ability to stay informed about everything happening in her neighborhood. Her loving yet opinionated personality endeared her to many, and she leaves behind a lasting legacy that resonates with her children, grandchildren, friends, and all who knew her.

June’s family remains close-knit, with her daughters Kris (Roy Cover) Cooper and Sheri (Ben) Wagner as cherished members of her life. She was the proud grandmother to Robert (Dani Wolking) Cooper, Baileigh (Vincent) Cooper-Shack, Skyler Chinni, Logan (Brittany) Wagner, Mason Wagner, and Brent Chinni. In addition, she delighted in her role as a great-grandmother, creating special bonds with her great-grandson Nico, her great-granddaughter Lilith, and step-great-grandsons Kaiden and Zach.

In her earlier years, June fostered a passionate love for reading, NASCAR, and spending time enjoying puzzles and word searches. Her interests extended to cooking shows, sports, and game shows, keeping her both entertained and engaged. She had a soft spot for giraffes and fondly followed social media personalities, including Katie Van Slyke, which showcased her vibrant personality and zest for life. June loved to play the lottery and always won, but never shared her winnings!

June is preceded in death by her husband, Richard A. Tanner, who passed in December 2021, as well as her father, Robert Haughawout, her mother, Helen E. Burmeister, and her sister, Marie Burmeister. These figures shaped her life, and she carried their memories with her, forming an enduring connection even in their absence.

An unforgettable presence in the lives of her family and friends, June Tanner's legacy extends far beyond her annual celebrations and fond conversations. She will be forever remembered for her loving disposition, her steadfast opinions, and her undeniable strength, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2025 at Ben's & Sheri's Home from 2:00pm- 5:00pm.
