Judy Lyons, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2025, in Toledo, Ohio, at the age of 81. Born on September 4, 1943, Judy's life was characterized by her unwavering passion for family, dedication to her work, and her generous spirit.

For over 30 years, Judy successfully operated her own cleaning service, showcasing her exceptional work ethic and commitment to excellence. Conclusively, she retired from the University of Toledo in 2016, where she worked as a custodian. Beyond her professional endeavors, Judy devoted her time to giving back to her community, particularly through her volunteering efforts at St. Clements school.

Education was essential to Judy; she attended Notre Dame Academy before graduating from Whitney High School. Her love for learning was evident in her values and the way she nurtured her family.

Judy's personality shone brightly in every aspect of her life. She was known for being passionate about her convictions, standing firm in her beliefs while being a loyal friend to all who knew her. Nurturing and incredibly generous, she was not just an amazing mother but also a lively spirit who brought joy and laughter to all family gatherings. Her cooking created unforgettable memories, especially during the numerous parties she hosted, always bringing loved ones together for joyous celebrations.

A hard worker at heart, Judy found great pleasure in baking and was especially proud of her role as a grandmother. She made it a point to show up for her grandchildren, instilling in them the importance of family and love. Her proudest accomplishments were undoubtedly her children and grandchildren, who were a constant source of joy and pride throughout her life.

Judy is survived by her daughters, Jennifer (Andrew Operacz) Lyons and Jamie (Jason) Hilyard; her cherished grandchildren, Gavin (Elizabeth) Lyons, Peyton (Faris Sawalha) Lyons-Glashauser, Emily Lyons-Glashauser, Tegan Horne, Jason Hilyard Jr., Alissa Hilyard, and Finley Hilyard; and her siblings, Janet Gorka, Joan (Herbert) Baker, and Frederick Powell. Additionally, she leaves behind a host of extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her father Stanley Powell and mother Emma Powell, along with her sisters Joyce Powell, Shirley Perkins, Barbara Barlow, and Patricia Powell, as well as her brothers John Powell, Stanley Powell, and Robert Powell.

Judy Lyons will be remembered for her love, warmth, and unwavering support for her family and friends. Her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
