Judy Sue Jans, beloved wife, daughter, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2025, in Toledo, Ohio, after a long and courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Born on July 19, 1960, in Davenport, Iowa, Judy was the cherished daughter of Patricia and Wayne Barrick. She spent her formative years in Davenport, creating a lifetime of warm memories that would shape the incredible person she became.

Judy dedicated her life to retail sales, working for J.C. Penny Fine Jewelry and Art Van Furniture. Her commitment to her career was evident in her unwavering passion for helping others, reflecting her upbeat personality and deep faith in God. She was known for putting the needs of others above her own, always displaying kindness and love to everyone she encountered. Judy also cherished her time spent with her church family, finding strength and community through her faith.

In her spare time, Judy enjoyed decorating for the holidays, cultivating a love of flowers and bird watching that brought her joy and serenity. Her positivity and enthusiasm for life touched the hearts of many, leaving a lasting impact on her family and friends.

Judy is survived by her loving husband, Markus Jans, with whom she shared 23 wonderful years of marriage. She also leaves behind her mother, Patty Barrick; sisters, Dena Penley (husband David), Sandy Barrick, Carol Barrick-Ortega, and Linda Huff (husband Mike); brothers, David Barrick (wife Chris) and John Barrick (wife Danielle); as well as a host of other loving extended family and friends.

Judy was preceded in death by her father, Wayne Barrick, her grandparents, and her nephews, Shane Penley and Devin Brackett.

A visitation will be held on August 30, 2025, at Monclova Road Baptist Church, located at 7819 Monclova Rd, Monclova, OH, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service starting at 12:00 PM. A graveside service will take place later that day at Wauseon Union Cemetery, 15165 State Rte 2, Wauseon, OH, at 4:00 PM.

Judy's memory will forever be cherished by all who knew and loved her. Her spirit and love will live on in the hearts of those she touched throughout her remarkable life.
