Joycelyn Gordon, born on September 20, 1945, in Rossford, Ohio, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2025, in Toledo, Ohio. A life filled with love, laughter, and kindness, Joycelyn touched the hearts of everyone she met, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished forever.

Joycelyn dedicated her life to helping others, especially children, through her roles at Career Works and LOF on East Broadway. Her time as a factory worker and supervisor not only showcased her work ethic but also her innate ability to connect with people from all walks of life. She never met a stranger, and her rich spirit radiated warmth and comfort. Joycelyn’s loving, caring, and charismatic personality endeared her to many, making her a beloved figure in her community.

A proud member of Jerusalem Baptist Church, Joycelyn found immense joy in her faith. Singing with the choir brought her closer to others, forging friendships that would last a lifetime. Her love for Jesus was evident in every aspect of her life, teaching those around her the value of compassion and grace.

Joycelyn's passions extended beyond her work and faith. She had a zest for life that included hobbies like bowling, shooting pool, fishing, and playing card games. Whether enjoying a cold beer with friends or spending time outdoors, her laughter echoed fondly among those who gathered around her.

Joycelyn is survived by her son, James Hines, and dear friends Jeannette Heckard and Diane Benton. She is also remembered by her sister-in-law, Nancy Florence, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many devoted friends. The warmth of her presence will be deeply missed, especially by those who had the privilege of sharing in her journey.

Joycelyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David Gordon, and her cherished daughter, Trina Hines. She was the last surviving sibling among her six brothers and sisters, a testament to her resilience and the deep connections she forged in life.

In memorial, family and friends are invited to join in honoring Joycelyn’s life. A gathering will take place on August 20, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 1:00 PM, both at Newcomer Funeral Home in Northwest Toledo. A graveside service will follow at Springfield Township Cemetery at 2:30 PM.

As we gather to celebrate Joycelyn Gordon, let us remember her unwavering spirit and the profound impact she made on the lives of others. Her legacy of love and kindness will forever illuminate our hearts.
