Joyce M. Pack, age 84, passed away in Toledo, Ohio on April 26, 2024. she was born February 17, 1940 in Toledo to Woodrow and Maxine (Sims) Pack.
Joyce graduated from Whitmer High School, class of 1958. She was previously employed at Sears, JC Penney, Washington Local Schools, and Blue Cross Blue Shield (later known as Medical Mutual) where she worked for 24 years as a Medicare Claims Specialist.
Joyce was very active in her children's lives and activities, including: Hiawatha Mother's Club and Bowling League, Washington Local Parent's Council, and Wernert's Little League Football (President). She was also the Parent's Representative for Title One Funds and lead the initiatives to renovate the Whitmer High School Stadium in the 1970's.
Joyce had various hobbies over the years including singing at Hopewell Teen Town and in a local band called Joyce Pack and the Winstons, where she often sang at the Miracle Mile Ballroom. She also sang in her later years at Thunder Thigh & Lightfoot Lounge. She even had a record deal in 1957! She lived in the same neighborhood since the early 1960's, where she often could be seen riding her favorite bike (up to the age of 82!) and was loved by all her neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her father, Woodrow Pack, mother, Maxine (Sims) Pack, and brother, Thomas Pack. Left to cherish her memory are her children, David (Sherri) Sprague, Tina (Ty) Wumer, and Danny (Melissa) Sprague. She will also be dearly missed by her grandchildren, Brittani (Nick Hastin) Sprague, J.D. (Jessica) Sprague, Taylor (Josh) Vandegrift, Kayla (Ricky) Aguilar, Kelsey Wumer, and Casey Wumer. Also left to cherish her memory are her brother, Richard (Vicki) Pack, along with many other family, friends, and neighbors.
Services to remember and celebrate Joyce will be held on Friday, May 3rd, 2024 at Newcomer Funeral Home; 4150 West Laskey Rd, Toledo, Ohio 43623 (419-473-0300). Visitation will be open from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm with funeral service starting at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made to Cherry Street Mission, American Red Cross, or Ohio Living Hospice.
