Joseph Jankowski

Joseph "Joe" Jankowski, 71, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully at his home on July 22, 2026. He was born on March 5, 1955, in Oregon, Ohio, to Daniel and Mathilda Jankowski.

Joe dedicated many years of his career to Johns Manville, where he served in Mat Department. Known for his strong work ethic and leadership, he earned the respect of colleagues and friends throughout his career.

One of thirteen children, Joe grew up surrounded by a large and loving family. Family remained the heart of his life, and he treasured every opportunity to spend time with those he loved. On May 2, 1991, he married the love of his life, Carolyn Kudlica. Together they shared 35 wonderful years of marriage, creating a home filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories.

Joe is survived by his beloved wife, Carolyn Jankowski; son, Joseph Jankowski Jr. and his girlfriend, Sarah Abatua; stepsons, Teddy Barber and his girlfriend, Lora Calopietro, and Nathan (Melanie) Barber; siblings, Tisha Bartlette, Mark (Pam) Jankowski, Arthur (Sue) Jankowski, Conrad (Anita) Jankowski, and Diane Williamson; niece Amanda and nephew Chucky; brothers- and sisters-in-law Betty Kudlica, Yolanda Kudlica, and Matthew Kudlica Jr.; and step-grandchildren Aaliyah, Michael, Alexis, and Nathan Jr.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Mathilda Jankowski; and siblings Kenny, Kevin, Linda, and Dan Jankowski.

Joe found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved reading, especially books about automobiles, and could often be found working crossword puzzles, Sudoku, and word searches. He enjoyed family holidays, admired classic cars, and spent many relaxing hours sitting on the front porch with Carolyn, watching hummingbirds visit their feeders. Joe was also a devoted animal lover and cherished his faithful companions: Andy Girl, his Border Collie; Pookie, his tabby cat; and Brutus, his beloved dog.

Joe will be remembered for his quiet strength, love of family, kind heart, and the many special memories he created with those who knew him. His presence will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family and friends.
