Jose Luis Ybarra

Jose "Joe" Luis Ybarra, age 73, of Toledo, passed away February 22, 2022 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center. Jose was born September 21, 1948 in Mercedes, TX to Andres and Aurora (Arellano) Ybarra.

In his younger years, Joe was an avid boxer, and loved watching boxing on t.v. He worked at Babcock Dairy for 14 years before moving to Texas. While living in Texas he worked as a security guard and continued in Ohio until his retirement. Joe was very proud of his Mexican American heritage and shared that with his family. He was a jack of all trades who could fix anything "with duct tape or electrical tape". Joe was a tough macho man but never let his family forget just how much he loved them. He will be remembered as a strong loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 53 years, Carolyn Ybarra; children, Donna (Tony) Perales, Katherine (Jason) Engler, Jose (Brenda) Ybarra Jr., Andres (Jackie) Ybarra, David (Amanda) Ybarra; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; siblings, Jesse (Antonia) Ybarra, Dolores (Ernesto) Pena, Maria (Jose) Campos.

Jose was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Aurelia Leal, Magarita Dickens, Andrew Ybarra.

The family will receive guests Sunday, February 27, 2022 from 12:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900) where Funeral Services will begin at 7:00 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of Carolyn Ybarra in Jose's memory.
