Jonathon Holman, affectionately known as "Jon," and “Pop Pop" passed away on July 27, 2025, in Riga, Michigan, at the age of 71. Born on April 21, 1954, in Quincy, Massachusetts, Jon lived life marked by dedication, love, and a passion for adventure.
Jon dedicated many years of his professional life to serving as an air traffic controller, where his keen sense of responsibility and attention to detail ensured the safety of countless flights. His commitment to his career was matched only by his commitment to his family and friends, who were at the heart of his life.
A man of the mountains at heart, Jon embodied the spirit of a true cowboy. He cherished trail rides through the wilderness, allowing him to connect with nature in a way that brought him joy and peace. Despite the demands of his career, he remained rooted in his hobbies, building additions to the farm, horses, cooking, and finding solace in his vegetable garden where he took pleasure in planting and tending to tomato plants and other veggies.
Jon's most cherished role was that of a grandfather. He loved to spoil his grandchildren, fostering warm and joyful memories that will be forever treasured. His daughter, Ashley (Brian Ellison) Langenderfer, along with their children Bronson and Bodie Langenderfer, and Bryce Ellison, will hold dear the moments spent with him, filled with laughter and love. He also leaves behind stepchildren Avery (Moriah) Kramer and their daughter Maitreya, and Adrienne Kramer with her children Cruz and Grace, who knew his nurturing spirit well.
In addition to his immediate family, Jon is survived by his brother Mark (Margy) Holman and sister Cherith (Randy) Greer. The warmth of his family bonds will continue to be a source of comfort as they navigate life without him.
Jon was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Vera Holman, and his beloved grandson, Bennett Michael Langenderfer. Their memories will remain a guiding light for those he leaves behind.
A celebration of Jon's life will take place at a later date in Las Vegas, a city that he called home for many years, where friends and family will come together to honor a life well-lived. His spirit will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who knew him, and he will be remembered for his loving nature, adventurous soul, and the joy he brought to those around him.
