John D. Walker

John D. Walker, age 69, of Swanton, Ohio, passed away on January 11, 2026, at Embassy of Swanton. He was born on September 26, 1956, in Toledo, Ohio, to Jim and Linda (Lukert) Walker.

John was known for his straightforwardness and candid nature. A true firecracker, he had a quirky and sometimes unexpected sense of humor that endeared him to many. While he wasn’t subtle, people appreciated that he was genuine and consistent in who he was. John’s bold personality was part of what made him so loved.

A builder at heart, John had a talent for working with his hands. He enjoyed creating everything from practical projects to imaginative designs. His love for gardening and building was how he connected with others. John faced many adversities throughout his life, yet he maintained a genuinely good disposition and lived life on his own terms.

He was a lifelong Ohio State Buckeyes and Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

John is survived by his sons, Joshua Walker(Jenny Guthrie), Eric Walker and their mother,  (Laurie) whom is considered extended family; his brothers, Jim and Randy (Renee) Walker; his sisters, Vicki (Mark) Hoepfl and Debbie (Marty) Milford; his granddaughter, Emma; and many nieces and nephews.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. 

The family will receive guests Thursday, January 15, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Newcomer – SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo, Ohio (419-381-1900). Funeral services will begin at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice in John’s memory.
