John E. Robertson

January 8, 1941 — July 31, 2025

Sylvania, Ohio

John Edward Robertson of Sylvania, Ohio age 84, went on to be with the Lord on July 31, 2025. His loving wife Connie of 35 years, holding his hand as he took his last breath on the earth. He now has a heavenly body and is not feeling any pain.

He was born in Toledo, Ohio on January 8, 1941, to John and Louise (Howell) Robertson. He attended Burnham School, then DeVilbiss High School graduating in 1959. Married his first wife Marilyn Gardner on March 2, 1959 who passed away with lung cancer at the age of 49 on December 24, 1988. They had two children together, Eric John Robertson (Toledo) and Diane Michelle Brewington (Pasadena, CA).

After the death of his first wife, he remarried Connie (Renn) Zika. They would have been married 35 years on September 1, 2025. They attended Westgate Chapel for the last several years and enjoyed Tom Duffs Bible study on Sunday mornings.

He was a faithful Christian dedicated to God’s Word. Was involved in several ministries and was known to help the homeless and pass out tracts to strangers and spreading the Gospel. He was a dedicated husband, father, brother, grand-father and great-grandfather, uncle, brother-in-law and a friend to many in the community. He worked 30 years as an engineer at SSOE in Toledo.

Connie brought into the marriage her two children, Tina Louise Zika, Brian Joseph Zika from a previous marriage. John was loving and caring to his step-children as if they were his own.

He had a big heart and showed his love countless times. Family was always a top priority and he continued helping and supporting his family through the years. He was only a phone call away but his love and generosity spread across the miles since most had moved to various locations across the United States.

He was very good at wood working and built furniture, a doll house, cradles, the deck on the house and a garden shed. He and Connie combined their craft talents. Connie basket weaved and with John’s wood skills made light house lamps, sleighs, lap desks to name a few.
