On September 21, 2025, our beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, John Edward Buck, passed away in Lambertville, Michigan, at the age of 89. Born on April 13, 1936, in Jacksonville, Florida, John lived a life filled with warmth, laughter, and a positive spirit that touched everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Family was the center of John’s world. His greatest joy came from spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his six children: John (Pamela), James (Debbie), Ronald, Robert (Roxanne), Melissa Martin (Michael), and Margaret Walters (Matt). He also leaves behind 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, each of whom carries a piece of his spirit forward. He is now reunited with his beloved wife, Joyce, with whom he shared over 68 years of love and devotion.
John’s Catholic faith was a guiding light in his life. A daily Mass attendee for many years, he prayed the Rosary faithfully and made several pilgrimages with Joyce to sacred sites, which deepened his devotion.
He dedicated 36 years of his career to Dana Corp on Bennett Road, where he held union positions as Time Study Steward and part-time Union Committee Person, in addition to various production roles. While proud of his work, he was prouder still of the friendships and camaraderie built along the way. Known for his easy smile and welcoming nature, John had a gift for making everyone feel at home.
An outdoorsman at heart, John found joy in fishing, hunting, and golfing. As a charter captain with the Lake Erie Charter Association, he shared countless fishing trips with family. Later in life, he traded his hunting and fishing gear for golf clubs, happily playing whenever the temperature crept above 40 degrees. Ever chasing the perfect swing, golf became one of his greatest passions.
John also loved cheering on his family at their games and could often be found singing and dancing, bringing smiles wherever he went. To us, he was more than a father and grandfather—he was a source of encouragement, laughter, and love. His presence brightened every room, and his legacy will live on in all who knew him.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and support staff who cared for John during the last few months of his life. A special thank you goes to his granddaughter, Amy Matthews, whose guidance and support were invaluable during this time.
A private celebration of life for both John and Joyce will be held by the family. While our hearts ache at their passing, we find peace in knowing they shared a long, faith-filled life together, filled with love and grace.
