Joan M. Vogeli-Johnson

Joan M. Vogeli-Johnson, a beloved health caregiver and cherished family matriarch, passed away on February 18, 2026, at the age of 88, in Toledo, Ohio. Born on October 28, 1937, in Ottawa Lake, Michigan, Joan's life was a tapestry of devotion to family, compassion for others, and an unwavering spirit resonated with all who knew her.

Joan dedicated over 45 years of her life to caring for others in her role as a health caregiver at St. Vincent's Hospital and numerous nursing homes in the Toledo area. Her commitment extended beyond just her profession, as she also served as an activities director at Waterford Commons for over a decade, organizing enriching programs that brightened the lives of countless individuals.

A proud graduate of Whitmer High School, Joan embodied the values of kindness and community. She was a member of UCT (United Commercial Travelers), which allowed her to forge deep friendships and connections throughout her life.

Joan was renowned for her outgoing nature and her love for family. She thrived in the company of her loved ones, especially her grandbabies, bringing joy and warmth to every gathering. Her many hobbies included day trips, lunch outings with friends, bowling with her sisters, exploring garage sales, crocheting, and diving into her beloved mystery novels.

Joan's legacy of love and laughter will be felt by her surviving family, including her daughters, Audrey (Rodney) Miller and Toni Wlodarski; son, Bob (Jody) Johnson; grandchildren, Sean, Melissa, Robbie, Joseph (Kayla); great-grandchildren, Owen, Hunter, Alex, Liam, Danielle, Emily, Raylynn, and Arissa. She is also remembered fondly by her special friends: Leona, Stephanie, John, and Jon.

Joan now joins her dear departed family members in eternal rest, including her husband, Robert Johnson Sr.; mother, Mildred Vogeli (nee Geis); father, Frederick Vogeli; twin sister, Mary Ann; sisters, Betty Jane and Janet; brother, Fred Vogeli Jr.; and granddaughter Jenna Miller.

Her visitation will be held on February 28, 2026, from 1 PM to 3 PM, followed by a funeral service starting at 3 PM, at Newcomer Funeral Home in Northwest Toledo.

Joan M. Vogeli-Johnson's remarkable life and compassionate spirit will remain forever in the hearts of those she touched. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and selfless service, reminding us all of the importance of family and kindness.
