Jeffery Scott Segur, beloved husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on September 9, 2026. He was born on August 10, 1963 in Monroe, MI to George and Ellie Segur.
Jeff was preceded in death by his father, George Segur, and his grandparents, Thea and John Davenport and Julia Segur. He is survived by his wife and the love of his life, Dian Belcher Segur, whom he married in 1986; his mother, Ellie Segur; his three brothers, Jamie (Dottie), Jonathon (Claudia), Jathan; and his nieces and nephews, including his nephews Tom and Ben, with whom he shared a special bond.
Jeff's work milestones were as a Honda automotive technician for 13 years; 17 years as manager and technician at Segur's Automotive, and 3 years at Whirlpool of Findlay Ohio.
Jeff cherished his wife, Dian, and always wanted to do the things that made her happy. When planning their honeymoon, Dian told Jeff she had never seen the ocean or the mountains, so Jeff planned their honeymoon in the Smoky Mountains. That was Jeff. He listened, he cared, and he wanted the people he loved to be happy.
Jeff and Dian shared a beautiful life together for more than 40 years. They enjoyed traveling and created many wonderful memories along the way that Dian will cherish forever. Their love was something special. Where you saw one, you often saw the other; they were rarely apart, often walking hand in hand. They shared a bond and companionship that was evident to everyone who knew them.
Jeff loved his God, Jehovah, and his faith was an important part of his life. He found comfort and hope in his faith and shared that hope with others. He was baptized on May 4, 1985. His love for Jehovah moved him to serve as a ministerial servant in the Fostoria congregation for nine years. He took part in building projects and helped his spiritual brothers and sisters wherever he could.
Jeff cherished the special relationship he had with his grandparents, Thea and John Davenport. He spent many happy times with them, including camping trips and time together learning the skills they believed were important in life. His grandparents took great pride in passing these everyday life skills on to their grandchildren, and Jeff treasured the time he spent learning from them and the memories they created together.
Jeff was always willing to help the people he cared about, never expecting anything in return. He could fix almost anything mechanical and was affectionately known as the “family MacGyver.” If something was broken or needed figuring out, Jeff was often the person people turned to. His family would joke that he should have been an engineer. Even in his teenage years, you could most likely find Jeff and his brothers, the “Segur boys,” working on a car together in their yard, replacing and rebuilding engines. Their time spent working side by side became some of the memories that defined Jeff’s love of cars and anything mechanical.
The 1963 Plymouth Belvedere his grandparents owned held a particularly special place in Jeff's heart. It was the car Jeff was driven home in from the hospital after he was born, and he grew up riding in it with his grandparents, making it a part of many of his childhood memories.
Years later, Jeff met a man who owned a Belvedere just like it and shared with him the memories he had of his grandparents’ car. Jeff told him that if he ever decided to sell it, he would love the opportunity to buy it. Nearly 10 years later, that man called Jeff. Remembering how much the car meant to Jeff, the man had kept Jeff’s number all those years and wanted to give Jeff the first opportunity to own it. Jeff bought it on the spot. It was more than just a car, it was a connection to his childhood, his grandparents, and the memories he carried with him throughout his life.
Jeff's love was self-sacrificing. When Dian's parents needed help, he put his own plans aside to be there for Dian and help care for them during their time of need. He never hesitated to put the needs of the people he loved before his own.
An avid reader, Jeff loved writing poetry. One of his brothers fondly remembers seeing Jeff and his mom, Ellie, sitting together at the table, reading and writing poetry. He was known for his wisecracks and sense of humor, often bringing laughter to those around him.
Jeff had a special love for his dogs, Travis, Rocky, Murphy, and Cosmo, who were all cherished companions and an important part of his life. Murphy was by his side for 15 years, making their bond especially meaningful.
Jeff leaves behind many cherished memories for those who knew and loved him. His kindness, humor, creativity, willingness to help, and ability to fix almost anything will be remembered fondly. Most of all, he will be remembered for the love he shared with Dian, his family, and his friends.
