Obituary for Jeffery H. Lee

Jeffery H. Lee of Sylvania was born May 17, 1959 in Altus, OK to Robert and Shirley Lee. His life was defined by his faith, courage, service and devotion. Jeff courageously fought, with dignity and great determination, pancreatic cancer for six years, inspiring those around him with his strength and resilience. He is no longer suffering and is now with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in paradise.

Jeff grew up in Holland, Ohio with his brother, Kevin (Cindy) Lee of Cape Coral, FL and sisters Brenda (Walter) Engh of St. Claire Shores, MI and Karen (Bob) Allgier of Bowling Green, OH.

Jeff went to Springfield Schools where he ran cross country and competed in state as a wrestler. He received a wrestling scholarship to University of KY and later transferred to wrestle for Olivet Nazarene University, Kankakee, IL. Jeff loved watching college wrestling, especially with his good friend, Doug. While at Olivet, Jeff received his bachelors in Psychology and met the love of his life, Jane Hadley. Jeff & Jane were happily married for 42 years and blessed with two sons, Dallas of Sylvania and Owen (Noelle) of Toledo. Jeff was a committed husband and father. Jeff become a follower of Jesus Christ while in college and was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Toledo.

Jeff produced a bountiful garden each year, which gave him great pleasure to share with his family and friends. He was known for his mental and physical strength, strong work ethic, bravery, integrity and the ability to figure out how to do any task that needed done. Jeff served the City of Toledo for 32 years as an EMT/Firefighter, while also working as a custodian at Westgate Chapel for 18 years. Jeff received special recognition in 2006 for outstanding service in rescuing a trapped victim in an apartment fire. He was a good cook and also had a garden at the fire station, using the produce for the meals he cooked there.

Jeff was preceded in death by his mother, in-laws George & Faye Hadley and nephew, Patrick Ward. Along with his wife, children, dad and siblings, Jeff leaves behind many loved in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Visitation services will be held at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 4207 W. Laskey Road, Toledo on Thursday, July 9 from 4-7pm. Funeral services will also be held at Emmanuel Baptist Church on Friday, July 10 at 10am.

Memorial gifts can be made to Emmanuel Christian School, where Jeff worked in maintenance after his retirement from the City of Toledo
