Jeff Hayes McGinister

Jeff Hayes McGinister, affectionately known as “Peaches “, was born to the late Lydia McGinister and Jeff McGinister on February 04, 1940, in Helena, Arkansas.

Jeff spent his childhood years working beside his siblings as a sharecropper before enlisting in the United States Army, where he served for three years before being honorably discharged. Upon returning home from the military, he moved to Toledo, Ohio with his late wife Aslene McGinister.

Jeff spent his life serving the Lord. He was a devoted Deacon in the church, Bible school teacher and led Bible study on Sundays. He would speak about God and the importance of accepting Him as your Lord and Savior and the ways the Lord has worked in his life.

Jeff enjoyed fishing. He would sometime spend from sunrise to sunset on the water. Not only did he enjoy fishing, bringing the fish home and preparing it for his family was something both him and his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren alike looked forward to.

He made an impact on whoever he came across. Rather it was from his jokes, his upfront and direct communication style or the love he gave to those around him, once you encountered him, he was hard to forget.

Jeff passed in his home September 16, 2026, surrounded by his children and grandchildren.

Jeff is proceeded in death by, his parents Jeff and Lydia McGinister, his devoted 1st wife Aslene McGinister, daughter Mary Lynn, granddaughter ShéNetta McCadney, his brothers Gene, Maurice, Ted McGinister, sister, Juanita Boyd, sister-in-law Florida McGinister and brother-in-law John Boyd.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, son, Kenneth (Latoya) McGinister, daughters, Kimberly McGinister, Stacy McGinister, and Samantha Hogan, grandchildren, Lekeya (Matthew) Brown, Corey (Brittany) Hogue, Cassandra Hogue, Hansom Hill, Nikaija Colbert, Kyrn Colbert, Kym Colbert, K’Ci Colbert, Kali Jordan, Kobe Jordan, Kyla McGinister, Laquami Jennings, Joseph Collins, Chavis Collins, and Latoya Collins , brother, Charles McGinister, sisters, Dinella Boyd, Helen (William) Brown, and Cordelia Lee, sister in law Notie McGinister, brother in law, James Boyd, special friend Marian Pierce with the fishing and swimming crew and good fishing buddy Diamond, several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and friends.
