Jeanne E. Gowin, a cherished woman whose life was marked by kindness, generosity, and an unfaltering love for those around her, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 27, 2026, in her hometown of Toledo, Ohio. Born on May 6, 1938, Jeanne’s 88 years were filled with warmth, devotion, and an enduring spirit that touched the hearts of all who knew her.

Jeanne was a loving mother and grandmother, treasured by her daughter Wendy Acosta and her three grandchildren, Stephanie, Michelle (and her husband Aaron), and Brandon. She took great pride in her family, always teaching by example the importance of kindness and care. Her heart of gold was evident in every gesture, and her tender guidance shaped the lives of her loved ones in beautiful and lasting ways.

A woman of profound generosity, Jeanne was always ready to lend a helping hand. Her love extended beyond her family to the animals she so adored. She was blessed to share her home and heart with beloved pets throughout her life, including her dog Kelly and her cats Woody and Scarlett, who preceded her in passing. The joy she found in caring for her animal friends reflected the gentle and compassionate nature that defined her.

Jeanne’s days were often spent enjoying simple pleasures that brought her family closer together. One of the most cherished memories she shared with her granddaughters was visiting the serene ponds at the former Crestview to feed the ducks—an act that became a symbol of her nurturing spirit and the special bond she cherished with her grandchildren.

Beyond her family and community, Jeanne was a passionate sports enthusiast. A devoted “Buckeyes” fan, she celebrated every game with fervor, embodying the true spirit of an Ohio State University supporter. She also treasured the friendships that came through her involvement with the Buckeye community, including her best friend Carol Inman and longtime friends Sue and Ralph, who stood by her side throughout the years.

Jeanne’s journey through life was enriched by the love and support of a close circle of family and friends, a testament to the connections she cultivated with care and sincerity. She was married for 66 wonderful years, standing hand in hand with her husband until their passing, a partnership built on enduring love and mutual respect.

Though she has left this world, Jeanne Gowin’s legacy lives on in the lives she touched—the love she shared, the kindness she practiced, and the lessons she imparted. She was preceded in death by her parents, six siblings, many other relatives, and her treasured animal companions. She will forever be remembered by those who survive her—her daughter Wendy Acosta, grandchildren Stephanie, Michelle (Aaron), and Brandon, dear friends Carol Inman, Sue, and Ralph, and a host of loving relatives and friends who hold her memory close to their hearts.

Jeanne’s life was a tapestry woven with love, generosity, and joyful spirit. Her passing leaves a profound void, yet also a shining example of what it means to live with compassion and grace. In the quiet moments, as the ducks glide across the pond or a Buckeye victory is celebrated, her presence will be felt—a gentle reminder of a beautiful soul who lived fully and loved deeply.

In Liew of flowers contributions in her honor can be made to The Toledo Humane Society.
