Jean Gorney Tupciauskas

Jean Gorney Tupciauskas, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2026, in Toledo, Ohio, at the age of 90. Born on September 27, 1935, in Toledo, she lived a life marked by devotion to family, education, and the arts.

Jean was the second of thirteen children born to Frank Gorney and Ruth Burns Gorney. Her early life in Toledo was enriched by a large and loving family. She was preceded in death by her siblings Sue Pickens, Frank Gorney Jr., Michael Gorney, Beth Alexander, and Veronica Tibble. She leaves behind her surviving siblings Tony Gorney, John Gorney, Mary Lapikas, Teresa Gragg, Joann Parker, Patricia Shirkey, and Genevieve Ceci, who cherish her memory.

Jean’s commitment to education was evident in her career as a dedicated K-12 teacher in both private and public schools in Toledo. A graduate of Lourdes College in Sylvania, Ohio, she devoted much of her life to nurturing young minds. Beyond her professional life, Jean had a deep love for art, reading, and music, interests that enriched not only her own life but also the lives of those around her.

She was a loving mother to Paul Tupciauskas and Julia Stiles. Jean’s legacy continues through her three cherished granddaughters: Sarah and Shelby Tupciauskas, and Zoe Stiles, who brought her great joy.

A memorial gathering will be held in Jean’s honor on April 11, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a memorial service beginning at 2:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Northwest Toledo, located at 4150 W Laskey Rd, Toledo, Ohio 43623. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Jean are invited to gather and celebrate her life.

Jean Gorney Tupciauskas will be remembered for her love, her dedication to family, and her passion for learning and the arts. Her legacy lives on in all who knew and loved her.
