Dr. Jayantilal D. Galani, a distinguished physician, husband, father, grandfather and respected member of the medical community passed away on December 18, 2025, at the age of 83 in Holland, Ohio. He was born on April 15, 1942, in Kolki, India, where he began his early journey in life.
Dr. Galani dedicated his life to the health and well-being of his patients. His remarkable career spanned over 35 years, during which he practiced solo Internal Medicine in Wauseon, Ohio, and served on the medical staff at both Fulton County and Henry County Hospitals. From carrying his little black bag for house calls to the end of his career, he demonstrated unwavering commitment to excellence, compassion, and an indomitable spirit that inspired those around him. Throughout his professional life, he made significant contributions to the field of medicine, positively impacting countless lives. His colleagues and patients alike valued his expertise and were touched by his dedication to service.
Dr. Galani’s educational journey began at MP Shah Medical School in Jamnagar, India, followed by his residency at VS Hospital in Ahmedabad, India. He ultimately completed his medical training at the Medical College of Ohio in Toledo. His commitment to learning extended beyond his own education; he valued education for his sons, grandchildren, and the community.
Family was central to Dr. Galani’s life. He is survived by his beloved wife, Prafulla Galani, with whom he shared 53 years of marriage. He is also survived by his sons, Dr. Ruple Galani and his wife Gina, and Shital Galani and his wife Sharmi. Dr. Galani found immense joy in being a grandfather, and he cherished his time with his grandchildren: Ava, Alexis, Asher, Sahana, and Maya. Two years ago, he took his entire family back to his home in India, experiencing pure joy in seeing his sons, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren visit his childhood home.
Dr. Galani's personality was characterized by his warm smile and zest for life. He loved laughter and shared joy with his family and friends. His passion for travel led him to explore nearly all 50 states and countless places and countries around the world. Dr. Galani’s legacy as a physician and mentor will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing him, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of many.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Devsi Galani and Maniben Galani. Dr. Galani will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and the medical community he served with such distinction.
Hindu Ceremony will take place on December 23, 2025, from 9:15 AM to 10:00 AM at Newcomer Funeral Home, West Sylvania, located at 3655 King Rd, Toledo, OH 43617. The visitation and funeral service will follow immediately after, starting at 10:00 AM and concluding at 11:00 AM at the same location. Also, there will be a memorial Shraddhanjali prayer service held at the Hindu Temple of Toledo on Friday, December 26, 2025 beginning at 4:30 p.m. All devotees and well-wishers are welcome to attend and offer their prayers.
