Jason Michael William Brown, passed away unexpectedly on May 22, 2026, in Wooster, Ohio, on his 52nd birthday. Born on May 22, 1974, in Toledo, Ohio, Jason was known for his strong work ethic, adventurous spirit, diverse talents, and deep appreciation for family, music, sports, and the outdoors.
Jason graduated from Whitmer High School in Toledo with the Class of 1993. Shortly thereafter, he proudly answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the United States Army in July 1993.
Following his honorable discharge, Jason built a career defined by versatility and determination. Over the years, he worked as a computer software technician, over-the-road truck driver, heavy equipment and machinery operator, and in the oil services industry specializing in hydraulic fracturing. Most recently, he was employed by Baker Hughes.
Early in life, Jason married Amanda James, and together they raised two sons who remained the center of his world. Family was Jason’s greatest source of pride, and he cherished every opportunity to support and celebrate those he loved.
He is survived by his beloved sons, Braiden Brown and Keyghan James; his father, C.J. Brown; stepmother, Gerry Brown; sister, Kim (Jamie) Traczyk; nieces, Madisyn (Sam) Merriman and Macie Traczyk; great-niece, Vivian Merriman; and his former wife and the mother of his children, Amanda Webber. He is also survived by his lifelong friend, Dave (Jen) Bukowski, whose friendship remained a treasured constant throughout Jason’s life.
Jason was preceded in death by his mother, Sharon O’Brien; his maternal grandmother, Louise Bohnsack; his paternal grandmother, Lois Brown; and the legendary pup- Bluebear Brown.
Outside of work, Jason embraced life with enthusiasm and curiosity. Music was one of his greatest passions. He loved attending concerts and building collections of music spanning generations, with a special fondness for Pearl Jam and The Beatles. A lifelong baseball fan, he faithfully followed the Detroit Tigers and Cleveland Guardians. He also enjoyed shooting, fishing, and hunting, finding peace and fulfillment in the outdoors.
Jason possessed a deep curiosity about the world around him. He was fascinated by the cosmos, enjoyed birdwatching, and appreciated the simple wonders of nature. He shared his home with two beloved cats, Floyd and Steve, whose companionship brought him great comfort and joy.
Jason’s life was defined by resilience, dedication, and an unwavering love for those closest to him. Whether serving his country, working hard to provide for his family, or sharing laughter and stories with friends, he approached life with authenticity and determination. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
Family and friends will be received at Newcomer Funeral Home (Northwest Chapel), 4150 Laskey Road, Toledo, Ohio, on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A celebration of Jason’s life will begin at 7:00 p.m.
In lieu of gifts or flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Toledo Humane Society in Jason’s memory.
