It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jared Joseph Fox, a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend, who left us unexpectedly on April 30, 2025, at the Toledo Air National Guard Base in Swanton, Ohio. Jared was born on June 1, 1988, in Toledo, Ohio, and he carried with him a spirit of generosity, warmth, and fun that touched the lives of all who knew him.
He proudly served for 18 years in the Ohio Air National Guard at the 180th Fighter Wing. Jared’s strong dedication to service was evident through his time in the United States Air Force, where he was deployed twice, serving honorably in Afghanistan and Kyrgyzstan. His commitment to his country was a testament to his character, reflecting the very best of what it means to selflessly serve our country.
A proud graduate of Bowser High School, Jared furthered his education by earning an Associate’s degree from the Community College of the Air Force and attending the University of Toledo. His accomplishments in education laid the groundwork for his successful career as a mechanic. During his time spent serving as a mechanic he was always quick to jump in and help, including taking new troops under his wing to train them. He continuously put the needs of others before his own, and was affectionately referred to as ‘Foxy.’ His friendship, camaraderie, and unwavering good attitude was enjoyed each and every day around the shop and base.
Jared was married to his loving wife, Gretchen Fox, on July 3, 2020. Together, they shared cherished moments, including their honeymoon in Punta Cana and delightful adventures in Hocking Hills and family beach week vacations with extended family. As a father, Jared embraced the role with enthusiasm, love, and fiercely protected his family and friends. He was playful, loving, and silly with his children, Teagan, Mason, and Aiden. He loved cooking and airplanes and hoped to pass his love for airplanes down to his children. His love for his family was boundless, evident in both moments of joy and everyday challenges.
He leaves behind his devoted wife, Gretchen, and his sons, Mason and Aiden, and his daughter, Teagan. He is also survived by his mother, Patricia Fox; brother, Chase Fox (Hayley); and his cherished nieces and nephews: Wren and Sloan Fox, and Liam, Nolan, Alice, and Wren Buskirk. In addition, he is remembered fondly by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Jan and Bill Buskirk, as well as his brothers-in-law, Topher Buskirk (Shannon) and Eric Buskirk (Heather). Jared is preceded in death by his father, Kevin Fox, and his grandparents.
Jared's remarkable spirit, his dedication to family, and his love for adventure will be profoundly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
