Janice L. Benarth

Janice Lou (Hiltman) Benarth, age 79, of Wauseon, Ohio, peacefully passed away on March 27, 2026, at Fulton County Health Center. Born on September 6, 1946, in Toledo, she was the daughter of Robert O. and Mildred (Grieger) Hiltman.

Janice was a graduate of Whitney High School, where she was actively involved in the Food Service Vocational program. Throughout her career, she dedicated herself to various roles including at The Toledo Hospital—where she met her husband, Robert W. Benarth—Fort Wainwright Hospital in Fairbanks, Alaska, Mancy’s Steakhouse, Olga’s Kitchen, Someplace Else Restaurant, and ultimately retired from the cafeteria at Rosa Parks Elementary School. Janice cherished camping at Sunnys Campground in Wauseon, as well as baking, crocheting, and spending quality time with her grandchildren.

She is lovingly remembered by her son, Brian (Janelle) Benarth; grandchildren Heaven, Alisha, Joshua (Natalie), Brandon (Paige), Alexandria, and Zachary; great-grandchildren Eliyana and Romi; and her brother Terry (Michelle) Hiltman. Janice was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Robert W. Benarth; her son, Kevin Benarth; and her brother Roger Hiltman.

Family and friends are invited to visit at Newcomer Funeral Home (Southwest Chapel) on Monday, April 6, 2026, from 2:00 to 6:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the funeral home, with entombment to follow at Restlawn Cemetery in Perrysburg.
