Janelle Farringer, 66, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on March 4, 2025. Born on August 14, 1958, in Toledo, she was the daughter of Robert E. Semler Sr. and Grace E. Semler, who lovingly survive her.
A 1976 graduate of Maumee High School, Janelle married Fred Farringer soon after and traveled with him during his Army service. After returning to Toledo, they had 2 sons, Scott and Lucas. She later began working for Toledo Public Schools, where she was a familiar and dependable presence for decades. She deeply loved the students she served and formed lasting friendships with coworkers who became like family. She retired in January 2025, looking forward to more time with her loved ones.
Janelle later welcomed her third son, Nathan, with her partner Ken Fout. She was the proud mother of three sons and a devoted grandmother to three grandchildren, who brought her endless joy.
Janelle was known for her quick wit, warm smile, and loving kindness. Her sense of humor brightened every room, and she had a remarkable gift for making others feel seen and valued. She had a passion for family history, spent hours journaling and researching genealogy, and was an avid collector of cookbooks, recipes, and old treasures. Music was always playing in her home, and her cats, Grayson and Shy, were never far from her side.
She is survived by her parents, six siblings, three sons, one daughter-in-law, three grandchildren, and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.
A celebration of life will be held on June 13, 2025, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Trilby Shelter House and Pavilion in Toledo. Family and friends are invited to gather for food, memories, and laughter—just as Janelle would have loved.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
