James R. "Bob" Wise, 92, of Toledo, went home to be with the Lord on February 22, 2024.
Bob was born in West Liberty, Ohio on October 14, 1931, to Gerald and Ruth (Kern) Wise. He grew up in Toledo's old North End but graduated from Scott High School, where he played basketball and football (class of 1950). Bob was an Army veteran, having served in the Korean War, 1952-1953. In 1952, he married Yvonne Tanner and they had three children, Darren (Kelly), Kent (Francie), and Melissa (Chris Morgan). Bob later married Carol Molnar who had five children, Kevin (Mickey), Kathy (Bill Gross), Kim (Ron Jaquillard), Kris (Mike Fischer) and Ken. The blended family includes 8 children, 29 grandchildren and loads of great-grandchildren.
Over the years Bob and Carol were active members of various churches, last serving at Garden Park Christian Church. Together, they made their home a place where anyone and everyone was welcomed at any time. Bob worked for Wonder Bread/Hostess for 34 years, "retiring" at 62. But he continued working various part time jobs until he was 84. Dad was a simple, gentleman (gentle man) who loved spending time with family. He enjoyed all kinds of music - from Southern Gospel to the Four Freshman, and watching sports - golf and local basketball/football. He also made great pies and slab apple. Bob was preceded in death by his beloved Carol, April 15, 2022, and brother Dean. He is survived by brother William (Rich) and sister Geraldine.
Friends and family are invited to a memorial service and luncheon to be held on Saturday, March 23, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Garden Park Christian Church, in the First Baptist of Greater Toledo building, 6520 Pilliod Road, Holland, Ohio.
