Jim's deep-rooted love for God, his church, and his family guided his life choices. He was a faithful member of the First Apostolic Church for 66 years, where he and his wife, Susan, led a Young at Heart group. His service to the church included roles as a deacon, usher, Sunday School bus driver, Adult Sunday School Teacher and many cherished moments singing with his strong tenor voice alongside his children.
Jim was an avid supporter of missions in need. His hobbies often took him outdoors, as he enjoyed playing golf, softball, and basketball well into his mid-seventies. His great sense of humor and ability to connect with others made him a joy to be around; he had a natural gift for conversation and was always eager to share a laugh.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Susan Ward of almost 17 years; his children; Cathy Ward, James Ward Jr. and his wife Mickey; Carol Trzcinski along with her husband James. He also leaves behind his grandchildren Steven Ursell and his wife Cindy, Tony Ward and his wife Kris, Jennifer Thompson and her husband Chris, Bryan Ward and his wife Beth, David Trzcinski, Kathryn Day and her husband Bradly, and eleven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 49 years Lucille Ward, who passed away in 2004, and by his four sisters: Ruth Smotherman, Dorothy Ward, Joyce Parker, Wanda Grimes, as well as his loving parents.
Jim's legacy is marked by his unwavering dedication to his family, his faith, and his community. He will be remembered fondly for his joyful spirit, kind heart, and contributions to those around him.
