James J. Spross Jr.

James J. Spross, Jr. ("Jack") 85 years old, was called back home on January 23, 2024 after a protracted battle with three lung diseases. He is predeceased by his parents and brothers, his wife, Judith, and their daughter, Diana. Surviving are his daughter, Tina (Gurney), son-in-law Steve Gurney, grandchildren Daniel (Andrea) Gurney, Stephanie Gurney and three great grandchildren, along with numerous friends. He served in the Air Force for 32 years. He also had sold shoes for various mail order companies, and was a top salesman. He never met anyone who didn't end up being a friend, as he was gregarious and outgoing with everyone he met. His light will be greatly missed. Jack was a long time fan and 25+ year season ticket holder for the University of Toledo Women's Basketball Team, along with his daughter, Tina. He never missed a home game in that entire time until this season.

Services will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at Newcomer Funeral Home at 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, his family asks that donations be made to the American Lung Association on his behalf.
