James P. Jackson
August 1. 1961 – September 26, 2024
James “Jim” Jackson took his final cruise on “The Old Ship of Zion.” He departed Thursday morning, September 26, 2024, after battling a short illness. Jim stepped onboard and sailed away peacefully with loving support by his side. His ship landed at Paradise Port and James (Jim) Jackson entered Heaven’s portals, ran into the Savior’s arms, standing next to Jesus was his “brother” Elmer Biship, who passed away Sept. 27, 2023, waiting for him.
James “Jim” was born in Toledo, Ohio August 1, 1961. He worked at Lott Industries, and Sunshine Children’s Home, Creative Living Services, doing janitorial and shredding documents.
Jim loved football, and baseball. His favorite teams were Ohio State (Go Bucks), Detroit Lions, Toledo Mudhens, and the Cleveland Browns just to mention a few.
Jim was strong in his faith, and loved going to church. He was a member of Faith Hope Love Christian Church in Bowling Green, Ohio.He loved going on cruises, and souvenir shopping! He has been on many cruises to the Caribbean and Mexico, He loved, loved going on the Ohio State Cruise with the band and football team members! Did I mention he loved going on cruises?
Jim got to take his final cruise to the Caribbean in April this year after finding he was diagnosed with cancer. It was a cherished time in the Caribbean.
Jim leaves behind a special friend that became a “brother”, Jimmy Rodriguez who will miss him dearly. Not always is the old expression, “you can’t choose your family” true! But, in Jim’s case he got to choose his family! Chosen family members:, Roy (Angelique) Lewis, Jimmy Rodriguez, Michelle Crisp, Sue Crisp, Michelle Williams, Amy Thompson, Ashley Taylor, Makayla O’Conner, Gariana Pugh, Chiante Person, and Jamesha Ellis. He was preceded in death by his brother, Elmer Bishop
Thank You to all the staff and employees of Freedom Life Residential LLC. (Created Living Services) for the quality care given to Jim for many years. The Oncology Department and Nursing Staff at St. Annes Hospital. Thank you Heartland Hospice for all the guidance, support, and care, given with dignity, and compassion you have shown to Jim during his journey. To a friendly tech. In honor of Jim, please wear Ohio State shirts or colors. Friends will be received at the Newcomer Funeral Home, (Southwest Chapel) 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo on Saturday, October 12, 2024, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. The service will begin immediately following visitation at 12:00 pm with Rev Willie Miller and Assistant Pastor Rev. Thomas Wern officiating.
