James Edward "Ed" Joy

James Edward "Ed" Joy, age 87, of Maumee, OH passed away peacefully July 10, 2025 at his home surrounded by his children. He was born August 27, 1937 in Toledo, OH to Louis and Elsie (Wilson) Joy. Ed attended Libbey High School. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and U.S Navy where he spent most of his time in service to his country. Upon his honorable discharge, Ed met the love of his life at Lido Lanes, Janet Mae Buehrer whom he spent 61 years of marriage. Ed was employed at L.O.F. for over 45 years, retiring in 2000. Upon retiring he enjoyed golf and worked for South Toledo Golf Club as their "cart dude." In his younger years he liked to play racquet ball and jog. Ed loved fast cars and 70's music especially Chicago, Bob Seger and The Eagles.

In addition to his parents, Ed was also preceded in death by his wife Janet Mae Joy; siblings, Ethel, Joan, Jean and Louis. He is survived by his children, David (Debbie) Joy, Mary Ann Joy and Elizabeth (Steve) Joy; grandchildren, Chaela (Patrick) Laffan, Dylan Sodd, Christina (Steve) L'Ecuyer, Steven Joy, Ian Joy, Casey (Katie) Thress and Lynn (Tom) Haines; and many great grandchildren.

The family will receive guests Sunday, July 13, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Newcomer - SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). The Family will receive guests Monday, July 14, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Hyacinth Catholic Church, 719 Evesham Blvd., Toledo, OH 43607. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.

Special thanks to Sue Macke for her loving care, support and many visits with Ed. Also thank you to Heartland Hospice for making it possible for Ed to pass at home. Lastly for Dr. Ewry for his many years of care and humor given to Ed.
