Listen to Obituary

James Joseph Cutcher was born in Toledo, Ohio on January 16, 1959 and passed away on October 23, 2026 and the age of 67.

Jim (or sometimes Jimmy) graduated from Waite High School in 1979, and had previously attended Raymer and Macomber. He was a member of the East Toledo Boys & Girls Club where he had won awards for his art. Later in life, he spent many years working with his brothers Eddie and Mike at Ed Cutcher's Automotive on East Broadway. After a decade or so of repairing almost any vehicle you can think of for the City of Toledo Municipal Garage, he eventually retired as Head Mechanic at Toledo Autoworks on Woodville Road.

From an early age, Jim had a curious mind and understood the value of repairing things or making them work better. Coming from such a large family, there was no shortage of things for him to take apart just so that he could figure out how to put them back together again. Whether it was a car, a lawnmower, a motorcycle or even a boat, he could figure it out. He was always willing to share his knowledge as long as you could work up the courage to interrupt his focus, and you better make sure you don't have to ask twice! He enjoyed long rides on his Harley, science fiction movies, telling wild stories about his glory days out west in Colorado, and could often be found tinkering with his customized 1983 Chevy S-10 Blazer or any other project he may have had at the time. He was the type of guy to stay and chat for an hour after he said he was leaving, maybe two if there was still food on the table. He would go out of his way to help anyone that needed it, and in fact, his last known activity was an act of kindness. He will be greatly missed by all that were lucky enough to have known him.

Jim is survived by his loving children, Jacob and Sarra Cutcher; his siblings Tommy Cutcher, Donald (Clara) Cutcher, Robert (Cathy) Cutcher, David Cutcher, Richard Cutcher, Patty (Doug) Burns, Michelle (Rick) Hakius, Joann Cutcher, Barbara Cutcher; along with many beloved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Eugene and Ann (Georgeoff) Cutcher; and his brothers Ed (Bette) Cutcher, Johnny Cutcher, Michael (Lynn) Cutcher, and Eugene (a.k.a. Butchy) Cutcher.
