James Douglas Best

James Douglas Best, age 86, of Toledo, OH passed away June 2, 2025 at Parkcliffe Memory Care, with his wife at his side. He was born February 27, 1939 in Toledo to Earl and Edna (McIlwain) Best. He was a graduate of Macomber High School and attended the University of Toledo. Jim owned and operated a variety of business over the years. He was an avid golfer and also enjoyed fishing and camping with his children in their younger years.

In addition to his parents, Jim was also preceded in death by his daughter, Terri Best; brother, William Best and brother-in-laws, David Smiddy, Sr. and Jack Goad. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Dianna Best; children, Douglas Best, James (Heather) McCourt, Jeffrey (Ashley) McCourt and Lisa (Nikki) McCourt; 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren and sister-in-law, Paula Goad.

The family will receive guests Wednesday, June 11, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer - SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Toledo Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Care 360 Hospice for their loving care of Jim over the past few months.
