Jacqueline “Jackie” L. Wilcox, 61, of Toledo, passed away tragically on September 8, 2025. Jackie’s bright and endlessly free spirit will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew her.

Jackie was born on July 3, 1964, in an Army hospital in Leesville, Louisiana, and shortly after moved home to Toledo. She proudly graduated with the Class of 1982 from E.L. Bowsher High School. There, she made lifelong friends whom she continued to cherish throughout her life.

On August 31, 1989, Jackie welcomed her beloved daughter, Emily, with Paul Komisarek. Emily was the absolute center of her world, and the bond they shared was unbreakable.

Jackie was known throughout Toledo as a friendly face working as a bartender and server in many well-loved establishments. If you crossed her path, you likely remember her quick wit, cheeky laugh and the way she made everyone feel welcome.

Her creativity was boundless. Whether through her floral designs or her drawings, she had a rare talent for bringing beauty and life into everything she touched. Jackie also found great joy in cooking, preparing holiday meals that brought her family together around the table. She treasured “girls’ trips” with her mom, daughter and sister, where laughter and memories flowed easily.

Jackie adored butterflies, often seeing them as gentle reminders of life’s fleeting beauty. Her family asks that when you see one, you let it remind you of Jackie’s free and enduring spirit.

Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Wilcox and Marsha Wilcox Loos; stepfather, Steve Loos; brother-in-law, Dave Latta; cousin, Peter Krauss; her partner, Jeff Glore; and most heartbreakingly, her beloved daughter, Emily Komisarek, with whom she is now reunited.

She is survived by her loving sisters, Sarah Latta and Colleen Long (Douglas); brother, Frankie Wilcox; aunts, Vickie Krauss (Daniel) and Joan Slott (Bob Kefalonitis); nieces, Allison Latta, Megan Long, Cailin Long, and Olivia Wilcox; nephews, Andrew (Emily) Latta, Brendan (Kylie) Long, and Ryan Long; cousins, Carolyn Slott, David Krieger Jr. (Alison), John Krauss, and Tory Schaffer (Carl) and former husband Paul Komisarek. Jackie’s memory also lives on in countless friends and loved ones who were touched by her spirit.

The family is deeply grateful to the Toledo Fire & Rescue Department and Toledo first responders for their compassion, kindness, and response in caring for Jackie and Jeff with dignity and respect.

Jackie lived her life with an open heart, a free spirit, and a laugh that will echo in the memories of everyone who loved her. Her light will never fade.

Family and friends are invited to gather at Newcomer Funeral Home (4752 Heatherdowns Blvd.) for an open house to celebrate Jackie’s life on Saturday, September 13th from 2:00–6:00 p.m. A gathering will follow at Leroy and Margaret’s (5131 Heatherdowns Blvd.), where stories, laughter, and love will continue in her honor.
