Jack T. Erd, a devoted family man and skilled maintenance electrician, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2026, in Perrysburg, Ohio. Born on April 22, 1930, in Toledo, Ohio, Jack lived a life marked by quiet dedication, kindness, and unwavering commitment to both his faith and his loved ones.
A graduate of Central Catholic High School in 1948, Jack carried the values instilled in him by his Catholic education throughout his life. His steadfast devotion to his Catholic faith was evident in his regular attendance at numerous Catholic churches. Faith was a cornerstone for Jack, guiding his gentle soul and nurturing the compassion for which he was known.
Professionally, Jack lent his expertise as a maintenance electrician first with Girkin's Electric and later with Champion Spark Plug. His aptitude for fixing and tinkering with things earned him the affectionate role of the family's “Mr. Fix-It,” a testament to his practical skills and willingness to help those around him.
Beyond his vocation, Jack cherished the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid fisherman and gardener, finding joy and tranquility in the great outdoors. His creative spirit was expressed through coloring with colored pencils, a hobby that brought him comfort and peace. One of his favorite places to spend time was Craig Lake in Coldwater, Michigan, where he found solace amidst nature’s beauty.
Jack’s greatest pride was his family, who stood at the center of his life. He is survived by his children, Sharon (Thomas) Glassmoyer, Joyce Erd, and Ronnie Erd; his beloved grandchildren, Tommy, Brian, Jacob, Jimmy, Jennifer, Greg, Josh, Andy, and Anna; and numerous great-grandchildren who carry forward his legacy. He also leaves behind his siblings Jean, Ruth, Dale, Lynn (Jim), and Dona, along with many nieces and nephews who were richly blessed by his presence and love.
While Jack is now reunited with those who preceded him in death—including his cherished wife Beverly Erd, his daughter Beth Ann Erd, and siblings Paul and Lois—his memory endures in the hearts of all who knew him. Known for his warmth and ability to get along well with everyone, Jack’s gentle nature and steadfast character left an indelible mark on his community and family alike.
Jack T. Erd will be remembered as a man of integrity, an unselfish caretaker, and a gentle soul whose life was a testament to faith, family, and kindness. His spirit lives on through the many lives he touched, and his legacy will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.
