Ivan Tyler Mendoza

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend, Ivan Tyler Mendoza, who left us far too soon on August 3, 2026, at the age of 20.

Ivan was the cherished son of Mylene Buño and Ray Mendoza and the devoted older brother of Arabella Mendoza, whom he loved beyond measure. He was the treasured grandson of Eladio H. Buño and Ligaya C. Buño, and Petronila Mendoza and the late Ricardo Mendoza. He was also a beloved nephew, cousin, and friend whose presence brought warmth and joy to those around him. Surrounded by the unwavering love of his family throughout his life, Ivan touched countless hearts with his gentle spirit, caring nature, and genuine kindness.

Ivan possessed a rare combination of intelligence, humility, and compassion. He had an extraordinary ability to make others feel welcome, valued, and understood. No matter the circumstance, he was someone people could depend on. Whether offering encouragement, helping someone through a difficult time, or simply sharing his time and attention, Ivan gave generously of himself. His kindness was never performed for recognition; it was simply a reflection of who he was. Through countless quiet acts of thoughtfulness, he made a meaningful difference in the lives of those around him.

One of the most precious relationships in Ivan's life was the bond he shared with his younger sister, Arabella. Their connection was built on unconditional love, trust, laughter, and an unwavering devotion to one another. Ivan was fiercely protective of her and always looked out for her well-being. Together, they enjoyed watching movies, sharing meals, laughing endlessly, and creating memories that will be cherished forever. They shared an understanding that often required no words at all. To Arabella, Ivan was not only a loving older brother but also a protector, confidant, and best friend. The love they shared remains a bond that neither time nor distance can ever take away.

Ivan approached life with determination and purpose. Throughout high school, he distinguished himself both academically and athletically, continually challenging himself to grow and excel. He carried that same drive into university, where he was preparing to enter his third year in the Computer Science and Engineering program. He held himself to high standards and worked diligently toward his goals. His motivation came not from obligation but from a genuine desire to build a meaningful future and make his family proud. Above all, he deeply loved and respected his parents, whose guidance, sacrifices, and unwavering support meant everything to him.

Beyond his academic pursuits, Ivan embraced life with enthusiasm and gratitude. He loved playing video games with friends, creating memories filled with teamwork, competition, and laughter. More recently, he had developed a passion for volleyball and was excited to return to soccer, even searching for his old cleats so he could get back on the field. He also enjoyed discovering new restaurants and trying different foods with family and friends. What mattered most to Ivan was never where he was or what he was doing, but who he was sharing those moments with.

Those fortunate enough to know Ivan will remember his quiet strength, gentle heart, and selfless nature. He carried himself with humility, treated others with respect, and left people feeling better for having spent time with him. While his achievements were many, the true measure of his life is found in the love he shared, the friendships he nurtured, and the countless lives he touched through his kindness and generosity.

Though our hearts are broken by this unimaginable loss, we are forever grateful for the gift of Ivan's life and for the memories we were blessed to create with him. His laughter, compassion, strength, and unwavering love will continue to inspire those who knew him. While he may no longer walk beside us, his spirit will remain forever present in our hearts, guiding us through the days ahead and reminding us of the profound impact one beautiful life can have on so many.

Family and friends will be received at the Newcomer Funeral Home (Southwest Chapel), 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo on Friday, August 14, 2026 from 3:00-8:00PM. The Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 2255 Central Grove, Toledo.

Remember me in quiet moments, in the things I loved to do.
