Listen to Obituary

Isaiah “Ike” Lewis Jr., of Toledo, Ohio passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at Manor at Perrysburg, having touched many lives with kindness, strength, and an enduring love for his family. Born on May 31, 1946, in Sardis, Mississippi, Isaiah’s journey was one marked by steadfast devotion to his loved ones, a tireless work ethic, and a boundless sense of curiosity about the world around him.

Isaiah, known affectionately as “Ike,” was the beloved son of Rosanna (Rosa) Jones and Isaiah Lewis Sr., both of whom preceded him in death. Raised among siblings who shared a powerful family bond, Isaiah’s early years in Mississippi instilled in him values of hard work, community, and resilience—qualities he would carry throughout his life.

He is deeply mourned by his children: Sharon Braswell, Shatora (Quinton) Washington, Isaiah Lewis III, Jai Lewis, Alicia Simmons, Timothy Williams, and Sean Lewis. His pride in his children was perhaps his proudest accomplishment, and he cherished every moment spent with them and their growing families. The legacy of his love extends to his many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom will forever hold his memory close.

Isaiah is also survived by his sisters, Vernita Lewis-Taylor, and Carolyn D. Hobbs, and his brother James Jones Sr. He was preceded in death by his daughters Marie Lewis and Shai Lewis, his brother-in-law Dexter Hobbs, and his brother-in-law Byron K. Taylor.

Ike was a multi talented handyman but truly enjoyed painting and lawn care. He found great joy in being outdoors and maintaining beautiful surroundings. His career as District Manager for the Toledo Blade stands as a testament to his dedication and reliability; roles he fulfilled with dignity until his well-earned retirement.

Beyond his work, Isaiah embraced life to its fullest. He delighted in traveling, exploring, and trying new things, always eager for the next adventure. The harmony of soulful music, especially the timeless sounds of Michael Jackson and the Temptations, often filled his home and delighted his heart. A passionate basketball fan, he cheered for the Lakers through triumphs and trials alike.

Ike’s appreciation of good food was well-known among his family and friends. Always trying different foods especially during his travels. His warmth and generosity extended to everyone he met; he will be remembered for his open heart, his laughter, and his unwavering commitment to family.
