Irene R. Hernandez

Irene R. Hernandez age 88, of Toledo, Ohio passed away on May 17, 2025. She was born in Oak Harbor, OH on June 1, 1936 to Frank and Ramona (Avalos) Gonzales.

Irene was employed at Springfield Schools, Toledo Head Start and Hospitality Motor Inn. She enjoyed sewing, playing piano, gardening; going to the casino with friends and spending time with her family.

Surviving are her children, Sarah (Benito) Lozano, Daniel (Vivian) Hernandez, David (Julia) Hernandez and Suzanna (Jesus) Henandez-Mendoza; 14 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson; sisters, Helen Alonzo, Helinda Gutierrez, Carmen Menchaca, Esther Gonzales, Margaret Cardenas and brother, Richard Gonzales. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Guillermo Hernandez; son, Donald Hernandez; daughter, Sally Hernandez-Stickles; brothers, Frank, Edward, Manuel and sisters, Ramona and Anna.

Family and friends will be received at the Newcomer Funeral Home (SW Chapel) 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo on Friday, May 23, 2025 from 4-8 PM with the Rosary being recited at 7:00 PM.. The Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Little Flower Catholic Church, 5522 Dorr St. Toledo.
