Irene Fairchild

Irene Fairchild, of Toledo, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on March 20, 1943, in Paintsville, Kentucky, Irene lived a life filled with dedication, warmth, and a genuine love for those around her.

For over 30 years, Irene cherished her roles as a lunch lady at Libbey High School and later working at the TPS Commissary. Irene's commitment to service extended beyond her career, as she embraced opportunities to share joy and support her family and friends.

Irene was a woman of many interests. She and her late husband, Nellis delighted in camping at both Betty' s Country Campground and Twin Acres Campground for many years, creating cherished memories with their family and friends. Irene also enjoyed line dancing at various local American legion and VFW's halls where she made countless friends. Irene cherished and adored her grandchildren and was over the moon with becoming a great-grandmother.

Irene is survived by her son, Michael (Sarah) Fairchild, granddaughter Amelia (Joey) Poiry, and great-grandson Benjamin, along with grandson Wyatt Fairchild. Her loving companion, Ray "Tex" Guyton, stood by her side, providing her with love and companionship. Irene's family also includes many cherished nieces, nephews, and her best friend, Diana Zuchowski, who will all miss her dearly. Irene now rejoins her late parents, Frank and Hulda Gibson; her husband, Nellis Fairchild; her son, Timothy Stringfield; and her ten sisters and one brother, who together awaited her in eternal peace.

Visitation will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Toledo, located at 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd, Toledo, OH 43614, on October 23, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service celebrating her life will follow on October 24, 2025, at the funeral home beginning at 12:00 PM. Burial will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
