Gwendolyn A. "Gwen" Jones

Gwendolyn A. Jones, age 65, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2026, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Toledo. She was born on April 5, 1961, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Marlena Watson.

Gwendolyn was a loving mother, daughter, sister, and friend whose warmth and presence touched the lives of those around her. She retired from telemarketing and worked as a nurse’s aide. Gwendolyn was raised in church from an early age and taught to love and serve God. She was a member of Joshua’s Generation Family Worship Center for nine years and served on the praise team before it merged into The Refreshing Place, where she served on the praise team for six years.

Gwendolyn had a beautiful, outgoing personality that brightened every room she entered. Her laughter was contagious, and she was down-to-earth. She treasured every opportunity to spend time with family and friends. Above all, her greatest pride and joy were her two boys, Winston Christopher and Johnny Prince Jones, who held a special place in her heart.

Gwendolyn leaves behind her two sons, Winston Christopher and Johnny Prince Jones, to cherish her memory; her mother, Evangelist Marlena Rowell; and her siblings, Dana (Bryan) Womack; WC McFadden; Ancosmia Rowell; and Bishop Christopher Anwar (Sharisse) Rowell, I. She also leaves her aunt, Bobbie Burrnett, as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends who will remember her loving spirit, beautiful smile, and the memories they shared. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Tom and Lula Watson; her uncle, Moses Jackson; her aunts, Tommy Mae Shelton and Lula Bea Winn; her sister, Estigneeve C. McKinney; her brother, Henry R. Simpson; her nephew, Tyler Kevin Connelly McFadden; and her cousins. Gwendolyn’s life was a gift to those who knew and loved her. Though she will be deeply missed, her love, laughter, singing, and memories will live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever.

Family and friends will be received at The Refreshing Place, 2500 Nebraska Ave., Toledo, Ohio, on Friday, October 2, 2026, from 10:00–11:00 a.m. Funeral services will immediately follow visitation at 11:00 a.m.

Interment will be at Historic Woodlawn Cemetery.
