Greg O'Connor, age 71, passed away peacefully at home on August 2, 2026. He was born December 21, 1954 in Niles, Michigan to Leo and Dorothy O'Connor. Throughout his 71 years, Greg made a lasting impact on all those fortunate enough to know him.
Greg’s life was marked by a strong work ethic and dedication to his career. He retired after more than 30 years of service with Seyferts Potato Chips, where his commitment and reliability were widely respected. Through his decades of work, he formed bonds with colleagues that extended far beyond the workplace.
Those who knew Greg will forever remember his vibrant presence. With a very loud personality, he brought unmistakable energy into every room—one always knew when Greg had arrived. He lived and loved wholeheartedly, never holding back in his affections for family and friends.
A true sports enthusiast, Greg was celebrated as a walking sports encyclopedia. His passion for Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Detroit Lions football teams was legendary among those close to him, and his support for the Detroit Tigers never wavered. Greg’s love of sports extended to the thrill of horse racing, where he enjoyed both watching and betting on the races. Sports were not just a pastime for Greg—they were a way of connecting and celebrating the moments that make life fun.
Greg also found joy in the kitchen, and he was known for his cooking and the warmth he brought to shared meals; often preparing meals for his mother-in-law weekly. He cherished the adventures and experiences from traveling with his beloved wife, Robin, creating memories that remain vivid for those who journeyed by his side.
Greg is survived by his devoted wife, Robin (Ayers) O'Connor; mother-in-law, Karen Fulkert; brother-in-law, Dewey Ayers; and sister-in-law, Beth Kramer; and many nieces and nephews who will miss him. He also leaves behind sons, Sean O'Connor and Shane O'Connor; grandson, Myles O'Connor; several sisters and brothers, and their children.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, John Ayers, whom he adored, and they had a close relationship. His memories and their adventures always remained in Greg’s heart.
Greg’s big personality, presence, enthusiasm, and love have left a lasting imprint on his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
