Grant Boyd Jr., lovingly known to many as "GB," passed away on March 19, 2026, in his hometown of Toledo, Ohio. Born on March 13, 1975, in the same city, Grant's life was a testament to humor, warmth, and unwavering devotion to his family and friends.
Grant was a man whose spirit shone brightly through his infectious laughter and quick wit. A true jokester and comedian, he had the remarkable talent of impersonating anyone, bringing joy and lightheartedness to those fortunate enough to know him. Yet beneath the humor was a kindhearted and hardworking individual whose dependability and thoughtfulness endeared him deeply to his loved ones. Family was at the core of Grant’s life; he was fiercely devoted, always prioritizing their happiness and wellbeing.
He found immense joy in the simple pleasures—being a grill master was one of his passions, and he cherished the moments spent cooking and sharing meals with family and friends. Sports stirred his enthusiasm, and music filled his soul, both serving as bridges to connect him with others and enrich his life.
The proudest accomplishments of Grant’s life were undoubtedly his two children, Grant III and Jazmyne, and his beloved wife LaShonda, with whom he shared over 30 years of love and partnership. These relationships composed the foundation of his joyful existence and the legacy he leaves behind.
Memories of family vacations and dinners filled with quality time are heartfelt reminders of the love and laughter that defined Grant's home. His presence was a cherished constant to his brothers, Tyrone and LaDon Boyd, and a host of extended family and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.
Grant’s journey was also marked by heartfelt connections with those who preceded him: his parents, Grant Sr. and Ida Mae Boyd, and his brother Timothy Boyd. Though they have passed on, the love and lessons they imparted live on in the lives of those Grant touched so profoundly.
A viewing will be held from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM on March 28, 2026, followed by a Celebration of Life from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Northwest Toledo, located at 4150 W Laskey Rd, Toledo, OH 43623. Friends and family are invited to come together to honor the memory of a man who was not only a devoted husband, father, and brother but also a beacon of humor and kindness in the lives of many.
Grant Boyd Jr.’s legacy of love, laughter, and generosity will continue to inspire all who knew him. Though he has left this world, the warmth of his spirit remains imprinted in the hearts of his family and friends, a lasting testament to a life well-lived and deeply cherished.
