Grant Boyd Jr., lovingly known as “GB” passed away on March 19, 2026, in his hometown of Toledo, Ohio, at the age of 51 years old. He was born on March 13,1975 to the union of Grant Sr. and Ida Mae Boyd. Grant’s life was a testament to humor, warmth and unwavering devotion to his family and friends. His passing leaves a deep void in the hearts of all who knew him, but his love and laughter will live on forever.
Grant attended Calvin M. Woodward High School, then went on to obtain a degree in medical coding and billing. Grant worked uncountable years as a forklift operator.
Grant was a man whose spirit shone brightly through his infectious laughter and quick wit. He was a true jokester and comedian with a remarkable talent for bringing laughter into every room. Yet, beneath the humor was a kind-hearted and hard-working individual whose dependability and thoughtfulness endeared him deeply to his loved ones.
Grant was a devoted husband to his wife, LaShonda, with whom he shared over 30 years of love and partnership. He loved her deeply, never missing a chance to show his true love and unwavering support.
Above all, Grant was a proud and dedicated father to his daughter, Jazmyne, and his son, Grant III. His children were his greatest joy and proudest accomplishment. He was loving, protective, and always giving full encouragement. His love for them was constant, powerful, and unconditional.
Family was at the core of Grant’s life, and he always prioritized their happiness and well-being. He found immense joy in simple pleasures, such as grilling, which was one of his passions. Grant filled his home with warmth and family traditions—whether it was watching sports, playing video games, or enjoying home-cooked meals. Memories of family vacations and celebratory moments are heartfelt reminders of the love and laughter that defined Grant’s home.
Grant’s journey was also marked by heartfelt connections with those who preceded him in death; His parents, Grant Sr. and Ida Mae Boyd, his brother Timothy Boyd, and his grandparents, L.Q. and Erma Boyd and Joe and Christine Rockett.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, LaShonda, his children, Jazmyne and Grant III, and his brothers, LaDon Boyd, Tyrone Boyd, and a host of family and friends. His presence will be cherished between his family and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts. The memories he created and the love he gave will continue to guide and comfort his family for years to come.
A viewing will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2026, followed by a celebration of life from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, Northwest Toledo, located at 4150 W. Laskey Road, Toledo, Ohio 43623. Friends and family are invited to come together in honor the memory of a man who left a profound impact on all whom he loved. Grant Boyd Jr.’s legacy of love and laughter will continue to inspire all who knew him. Though he has left this world, the warmth of his spirit remains imprinted in the hearts of his family and friends.
