Glenn L. Bigley, affectionately known to everyone as “Big,” passed away on October 16, 2026, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, surrounded by the love of his family and friends.
And big he was. Big in size, big in personality, and even bigger in his capacity to love. Glenn had a way of filling a room, not just with his presence, but with his laughter, his stories, and the warmth he brought to those around him. He was happiest when surrounded by family and friends, sharing good conversation, laughter, and, of course, plenty of food. Those moments together were what mattered most to him.
Glenn proudly served as a Sylvania Township Police Officer for 27 years, dedicating himself to his community and the people he served. He took great pride in helping develop the Sylvania Township outdoor shooting range, leaving a lasting mark on the department. Never one to shy away from a challenge, Glenn completed SWAT training at the age of 60, proving that determination and dedication have no age limit.
He was also proud to be a Mason, an honor he held close to his heart. Yet, among all his accomplishments and the many roles he held throughout his life, his greatest pride was always his family. His love for them was immeasurable, and the legacy he leaves behind is one of devotion, laughter, strength, and a heart big enough to embrace generations.
Glenn is survived by his loving wife of 44 years; his seven children; 19 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and his sister. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, former colleagues, and all those fortunate enough to have known him.
Though Glenn may be gone, the memories he created, the laughter he shared, and the love he gave will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. There will never be another “Big,” and the world will be a little smaller without him.
Services will be announced at a later date.
